B’nai Mitzvah Class for Adults and Kids

Are you looking for a synagogue to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah? Having a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Ner Tamid does not have to be traditional. Together we can design a religious experience that is creative, spiritual and modern.
Whether you read Hebrew or not, Cantor Rudy Hassid will help you prepare for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah in a style that is comfortable for you and your family. Your special day will be tailored to the individual skill and needs of the candidate. Ideally a participant will learn the Shabbat morning service and the basics of Torah and Haftarah chanting. Once you are at ease with the service, you will be tutored on your individual portions. If you are participating in a group service, the portions will be divided among the participants. All Bar and Bat Mitzvah candidates will study with Rabbi Shana Chandler Leon for six (6) months prior to the event.
Adult Learning Celebration
On June 29, five of our senior congregants celebrated their achievement by reading a portion of the Torah. Their journey began with learning to read Hebrew and continued on to learning to read Torah. Under the tutelage of Rabbi Shana and encouragement from Charles Drucker, they conducted the services, delivered the Drash, and spoke about their individual portions.
