Congregation
Ner Tamid is an egalitarian Conservative congregation with
community of warm and welcoming people who come together to pray,
celebrate, learn, and practice Tzedakah. We are a small and
haimishe community where people come to help each other through
life’s ups and downs and to form life long friendships. We are a
mostly adult community but we welcome families with children and
invite all children to participate in our service.
Our mission is to meet the diverse spiritual, religious educational and social needs of our members and to further the causes of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. We strive to build unity with our fellow Jews of all persuasions and affiliations and the community at large, in a spirit of love and respect We extend an invitation to you to visit our synagogue, to participate in our programs and activities, and to attend Shabbat and Holiday Services. We know that you will find Ner Tamid a place that will make you feel welcome. Congregation Ner Tamid is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism [USCJ] - Northern California Region.

Ner Tamid Open HouseYou're invited to a "Non-Typical" Synagogue Open House. On Sunday August 1st at 11am till 1pm (or so!) you'll find yourself somewhere on the Lower East Side of Manhattan circa 1940! As you stroll down our Orchard Street, amidst the shops and pushcarts of that bustling crowded thoroughfare, stop into the Deli on Delancey Street, have a kosher corn beef or pastrami sandwich ($4 each, potato salad or coleslaw included) and wash it down with a Dr. Brown's cream or celery soda (an extra buck). Stop and listen to a recording of a Yiddish band playing for a nearby wedding, or get up on stage with some shvitzers and show how you would do a Noo Yawk accent (winners get a free sandwich!) Or, ask our Rabbi tough questions like what's the brakha for salt, or insist that our Hazzan sing four bars from Kol Nidre before you consider buying a ticket for Rosh Hashana. And if you bring kids, we've got an art table for them to draw pictures of the 2nd Ave Delinear Hester Street, a portrait of Molly Goldberg or giant knish! And don't forget to pick up some free bread crumbs for Tashlikh! And while you're here you will have the opportunity to meet members and staff of a congregation that loves to have fun! So join us the first day in August and have fun with us. You'll learn that Ner Tamid is an egalitarian synagogue affiliated with the Conservative Movement (though we're not very conservative), with an active Women's Group that welcomes Men, a great adult education program, a fabulous kiddush every Shabbat and incredible monthly dinners on Friday nights, with music and singing and dancing going on all the time. That's why we love Ner Tamid, and we think you will too! And at the very least, you'll have a great pastrami on rye with your choice of cream or celery soda, and go home with a delicious pickle in your mouth and a smile on your face! Everyone is welcome! Click here to RSVP (Thank you!) or call 415.661.3383 1250 Quintara St, corner 22nd Ave in The Sunset where parking is easy
