Our Congregation
Congregation Ner Tamid,
located in the Sunset District of San Francisco was founded in
1943 as an egalitarian synagogue that is affiliated with the
United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. (USCJ-Northern
California Region.
We are an intimate
congregation offering a spectrum of synagogue activities.
In addition to our regular
Shabbat and Holiday services, individualized Bar/Bat mitzvah
training, participation in United Synagogue Youth programs, a
Thursday morning Learner's Minyan, adult education and social
action programs and a variety of social activities.
Religious Philosophy
As a Conservative
synagogue, Congregation Ner Tamid combines a commitment to the
past with an appreciation of the demands of the present and of
the future. We are very proud that men and women share,
equally, all religious honors and obligations. The emphasis of
our egalitarian service is on learning the richness of our
tradition through participation. Our ritual practices meet the
spiritual needs of our congregants while balancing the diverse
needs of our community.
We support our congregants
during all life cycle occasions by offering resources for
events including child naming, Bar/Bat mitzvah, marriage,
burial and Yahrzeit.
Our Mission
Ner Tamid is an
egalitarian congregation, committed to the ideals of the
Conservative/Masorti Movement, namely to retain Unity in
Diversity, to balance Tradition and Change, to promote
knowledge of Torah and the observance of Jewish practice, and
to be engaged in the pursuit of Tikkun Olam, helping to Repair
the World.
We are committed to
enriching the Jewish Life and identity of our community of San
Francisco.

There are two levels of
membership programs; family and single. Memberships do not
